Located only 15 minutes from the Cortijo, go and enjoy the superb panoramic views from the various watchtowers, visit the museum housed in the church of the Villa perched on the rocky promontory, stroll through its alleys to the convent of San Antonio, taste the culinary specialties from the village in the many bars and restaurants.

Illora
Íllora, located at the foot of the Sierra Parapanda, belongs to that series of towns in the west of Granada that is beginning to become an important tourist reference thanks to the characteristics of the space in which it is located.
To the monumental richness of its urban core is added the quality of the landscape of its surroundings and a remarkably well renovated castle.
Granada & The Alhambra
One of the Andalusian pearls, a luxuriant center of civilization in the Iberian Peninsula whose golden age was during the era of Arab domination and more particularly under the Nasrid Dynasty. Who does not visit this city with multiple roots has seen almost nothing of Andalusia, it seems! This is partly true if you fail to tread the site ofI'Alhambra, the most visited monument in Spain! Granada is nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada under the benevolent protection of Mount Mulhacén (the highest peak in mainland Spain). No need to give you a detailed description of the sites to see in the heart of Granada and in particular the Alhambra, which is why we suggest you go directly to the official website of the City of Granada: www.granadatur.com
Tocon - Alomartes
Toconis the closest locality to the cortijo in the direction ofIlloraand Granada. Allow 10 to 15 minutes by car from the Cortijo. You will find the bare necessities there, namely a grocery store and tobacconist (which we recommend), a pharmacy and a few very "local" tapas bars!
In the photo : statue of the Emigrant atToconin memory of a population that was leaving for an Eldorado.
Further on, leaning against the side of the Sierra Parapanda, Alomartes is a typical Andalusian village, administratively attached toIllora. You will find all the basic necessities shops there (supermarkets, bars, restaurants, butchers, bakeries, pharmacy, bank, gas station, etc.).
Where to have a drink and eat nearby?
Tapas, almost an institution in Spain, can be found on every street corner in Granada or in the villages. All you have to do is order a drink (excluding digestive) and you will be served a free tapa (only in the provinces of Granada and Almeria) to go with it. No one deviates from this because "tapear" as we say in Spanish is an art of living that creates social ties and promotes encounters. Here are some local addresses (less than 20 minutes from the Cortijo):
-
Casa Toniis the closest bar restaurant to the cortijo located at the exit ofToconin the direction of Montefrio. It offers popular Andalusian cuisine at very good prices!
-
Camino de la Huerta: here is an address not to be missed to taste excellent dishes straight out of the imagination of chef Vicente. Excellent fresh and seasonal products. This bistronomic restaurant is located in Alomartes.
-
El Pregonero: After the ascent to the Church of the Villa, land on the terrace of the Pregonero, facing the Church of the Incarnation! Nestled between the Town Hall and the Tourist Office, you can taste the specialties of Montefrio! This restaurant offers you the best braised ham in the area (jàmon asado)! It's simple: una caña, una tapa, the dome of the Church in front of you and you will understand...

-
Los Arrayanes Ceramics: you will find very beautiful pieces of ceramics in the colors of the province of Granada (dishes, plates, vases, decorative supports,...). The ceramics are made in the traditional Nasrid art. Suffice to say that everything is done by hand and we were won over!

The Alcaiceria market in Granada : The Alcaicería market is the Grand Bazaar of Granada and originally it was the Moorish silk fair with a series of streets between Plaza Nueva and Plaza Bib-Rambla , full of stalls selling Arabian silks, spices and other valuable goods. Today, the only remaining part of the bazaar is Calle Alcaicería. Think inlaid wood and stained glass lamps. Granada's bazaar is very touristy and the narrow streets consist mainly of small souvenir and fabric shops.
